M37  (NGC 2099) -- Open Cluster in Auriga
Auriga's Best Open Cluster
The constellation Auriga overlays two spiral arms of the Milky Way Galaxy.  The area
is stunted with open clusters.  My favorite is M37.  This cluster of 2,500 suns has a
bright Red-Giant star marking the center. Dark dust bands and holes divide the
cluster while streams of stars appear to radiate from the cluster. M37 is high
overhead during the wee-hours of November mornings.  Well placed to be observed,
drawn and enjoyed.
